Reliance Electric AutoMax PC3000 OPC Server
The Reliance Electric AutoMax PC3000 OPC Server, herein know as the Server, communicates with the AutoMax PC3000 Processor Card by means of a Windows NT device driver developed by DASTEC and supports data exchange with Clients via Microsoft's Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) for Process Control (OPC). This OCP Server meets the OPC Data Server Specification Version 2.0 and also supports OPC Version 1.0.
The Server allows the user to configure bi-directional communications between the its database and the Reliance Electric PC3000 Processor card. With the PC3000 Processor card installed within the computer's backplane bus, the Server can supervise Reliance Standard Drives and/or remote I/O devices on the Allen-Bradley Remote I/O Link. Multiple PC3000 cards can be supported withnn the system unit to communicate with multiple networks.
The Server can access the register information within the application area of the card, on the Reliance DCS Network and from the Allen-Bradley Remote I/O Link. The PC3000's program and dual-port memory of the PC3000 Processor card maintains an image of all current application and network information. This feature allows the Server to instantaneously update its database without polling for data over the network.
The Server has a graphical user interface (GUI) configuration environment with an "Explorer" look and feel. The configuration environment allows the Server to be configured with information such as which device to interface and its data so that the Server can communicate with these devices on behalf of the Clients. Data exchanged occurs between the Server and the PC3000 device registers. These registers are defined as part of the configuration process generating Tags in the Server database. Clients and the Server then reference the register data via the tag names.
The Server was developed by DASTEC Corporation using the OPC Server Toolkit from FactorySoft, Inc. The Server works in conjunction with a device driver to handle the Plug and Play hardware and low-level interface of the PC3000 card. The Server and PC3000 device driver is currently only supported for the Windows NT operating system.
