Quest Technical Solution AN-X-DCSNet OPC Server
The Quest Technical Solution AN-X-DCSNet OPC Server, herein know as the Server, communicates with drops on a Reliance Electric AutoMax DCSNet network via the Quest Technical Solution's AN-X-DCSNet module product to read from and/or writes to drop registers.
The Server supports data exchange with Clients via Microsoft's Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) for Process Control (OPC). This OCP Server meets the OPC Data Server Specification Version 2.0 and also supports OPC Version 1.0.
The AN-X-DCSNet module acts as a bridge between an Ethernet network and a Reliance Electric AutoMax DCSNet network. An AN-X-DCSNet module removes the hardware dependence on specific format interface cards (ISA, PCI, PC Card). Any computer with an Ethernet port and TCP/IP protocol can use the Quest Technical Solution AN-X-DCSNet OPC Server to connect to a DCSNet network.
Data exchanged occurs between the Server and the DCS network device registers. These registers are defined as part of the configuration process generating Tags in the Server database. Clients and the Server then reference the register data via the tag names.
The Server has a graphical user interface (GUI) configuration environment with an "Explorer" look and feel. The configuration environment allows the Server to be configured with information such as which device to interface and its data so that the Server can communicate with these devices on behalf of the Clients. Data exchanged occurs between the Server and the PC Link device registers. These registers are defined as part of the configuration process generating Tags in the Server database. Clients and the Server then reference the register data via the tag names.
The Server was developed by DASTEC Corporation using the OPC Server Toolkit from FactorySoft, Inc.
