Licensing Options

DASTEC Corporation's OPC Server products can be purchased under three different licensing methods; individual runtime licenses, unlimited runtime license or source code.

Note: There are no separate runtime/development licenses. If desired, an OPC Server can be placed into the demo mode for doing development. In the demo mode the OPC Server will run fully functional for a period of three days. After three days the software will return errors until it is placed back into the demo mode again. No separate license need be required for doing development work using the OPC Server's demo mode.

• Individual Runtime Licenses

  For individual runtime licenses, a separate license must be purchased for each computer on which the OPC Server will be used. For each license purchased, a serial number is assigned and each license must be registered on the computer on which it will be used.

  Discounts are available for integrators and if more then one license is purchased at a time (on a single purchase order). See the pricing/discount schedule below. For quantity purchases, one copy of the installation media and a set of serial numbers corresponding to the number of licenses purchased will be provided.

• Unlimited Runtime Licenses

  A single serial number is assigned to an unlimited runtime license. This serial number is must be used to register and receive a one-time authorization code from DASTEC. Once this authorization code is provided, your company can install and use the OPC Server within all your applications without contacting DASTEC with or for additional codes, authorizations or licenses. Your company must sign an agreement stating that the provided license serial number and the accompanying authorization code will be kept confidential.

• Source Code Licenses

  By purchasing the source code your company will have access to all DASTEC written code required to completely rebuild the OPC Server. The advantages to owning the source code are that you will not be dependent upon DASTEC for licensing authorization codes and for long-term support. You can also port the source code to other operating systems. (Note that DASTEC can provide porting assistance under separate contracts but not as part of the source code purchase). Your company will be required to sign a source code agreement stipulating non-disclosure of the source and agreeing to not offer a competing OPC Server type product.
